Frequently Asked Questions

Here you'll find the answers to all of your questions about finding and buying your wedding dress. If there's anything else you not sure of or want some more clarity on feel free to get in touch with us.

When should I start looking for my dress?

Its never too early to start! As soon as you're engaged start researching online to get an idea of what you like. Ideally you want to give yourself 12 months. This will give you plenty of time to find a style that suits you, find THE dress, and have alterations done.

We recommend leaving it no later than 8 months.

Do I need to book an appointment?

Yes. We're a by appointment boutique so you will need to book to come in and try the dresses on. We allow 1.5 hours for each appointment. Please make sure you arrive promptly so as not to miss out on any styling time. Weekend and evening appointments get booked up quickly so be sure to get in touch with us in advance to book your preferred date and time.

Where is Lavelle Bridal Couture?

Our bridal boutique is situated on Jury Street in the heart of Warwick town centre. Here are directions on how to get to us.

Is there parking available?

Whilst we don't have private parking, being a town centre boutique, there is plenty of parking in and around Warwick. Check out our how to find us section for the closest parking.

How long is the appointment?

The appointment is booked in for 1.5 hours. Some brides don't need all the time but everyone is different so we allocate this time to make sure we're not rushed.

How many people can I bring to the appointment?

We recommend to only bring 1 or 2 people and make sure they're people whose opinions you really trust.  Brides often ask for family or friends opinions but what you really want is for reassurance of your opinion.  It's not your hen party just yet and although it might seem like a good idea to bring all your friends and family a lot of opinions can be confusing. We appreciate that this is a big decision though so we will do our best to accommodate as many people as you'd like to bring.

Can I bring children with me?

We don't recommend bringing children with you as it can be distracting and stressful but also dangerous as there are a lot of pins and mirrors around the boutique.

Should I bring anything with me?

If you have a pair of shoes that are your perfect heel height feel free to bring them with you, or if you're like us and shoe obsessed, you might have got your shoes before your dress!

Similarly if you have a family heirloom or a piece of special jewellery that you know you're going to wear on your big day bring this along so you can see how it looks with your dress.

What should I wear for my appointment?

Get in the mood. Use your good shower gel and do your hair and makeup, it doesn't have to be exactly how your going to have it on the big day, but you'll feel better for it. Please refrain from using heavy foundation, lipstick or fake tan as we want the samples to stay white.

It's best to stick to nude underwear, no one wants pink stripy knickers showing through their ivory wedding dress when they're trying to envisage walking down the aisle!

Invest in a well fitting strapless bra before your appointment (again in nude) as you'll be able to see all the dresses looking their best.

Can I take photos in my appointment?

Yes. Whilst we don't recommend it, because a lot of people look back and pick flaws in photos of themselves, we appreciate that it can sometimes be overwhelming trying to remember so many dresses. You want to be able to go back and review which styles you tried on. Try to remember how you felt in the dress and when you looked in the mirror rather than taking photos.

What size are the dresses at Lavelle Bridal Couture?

Most of our samples are in a UK size 12 or 14 however we do also have some 10s and 16s. A samples dress is never going to be the perfect fit on you but it's our job to work our magic so you can see how the dress would look when properly fitted.

What is the price range?

Our dresses start at £1,400 and go up to £4,000.

When should I order my dress?

Try to give yourself 8 months so that the designers have time to make your dress and to allow plenty of time for alterations.

How long will it take for my dress to arrive?

This varies by designer and can take up to 6 months for your dress to arrive in to Lavelle Bridal Couture.

I've found the dress, what now?

Yay! Congratulations! We'll take your measurements to see what size dress we need to order for you. You'll sign to confirm your measurements and our terms and conditions. We'll take a non-refundable 50% deposit, the remainder will be required when you collect your dress - within 14 days of it arriving in store.

Can my dress be customised?

Yes, most of our designers allow customisations to suit your specific requirements.

When can I collect my dress?

We'll notify you when your dress arrives in store and from then you have 14 days to collect your dress and pay the balance.

What about alterations?

Ideally you'll want to book your first alteration appointment 12 weeks before your wedding. We have a recommended seamstress that we use and has loads of experience in wedding dress alterations. These appointments are held on a Tuesday at Lavelle Bridal Couture with our seamstress. If you have a seamstress in mind that you'd rather use that is absolutely fine.

How many fittings will I need?

In your first fitting our seamstress will look at the work involved, give you an accurate quote and let you know how many fittings you'll need. There will also be a chance for you to ask any questions in your fitting.

What should I bring to my first fitting?

You'll need to bring you shoes and bra to all of your fittings. Our seamstress cannot alter the length of your dress without your shoes.

How much do alterations cost?

How long is a piece of string? Every bride is different and this will totally depend on the work involved. Our seamstress will provide you with an accurate quote on your first fitting.

I've found a dress by one of your designers that you don't have in stock, can I still order this dress?

Of course! You can order any dress you like from one of our designers. Please let us know when you call to book your appointment. We can often loan a sample of this dress from our designers at a small cost for you to try on.

Do you accept returns?

No, all dress sales are final and we do not accept returns at Lavelle Bridal Couture.
